The place, India. One of the most populated countries in the world with over one billion inhabitants, it is estimated that 2.5 million people are currently living with HIV. In a country where poverty, illiteracy and poor health are rife, the spread of HIV presents a daunting challenge. Forty seven percent of India's children under three years of age are malnourished with the proportion of low birth weight babies remaining high. Child labor, child sales and out of school children is all too common. Infant mortality rate remains high. Only 3% of the population are Christians.  We have partnered with Children of Faith ministries in Vizag to bring the hope found in the saving grace of Jesus to these beautiful children of India. Backpacks have been distributed to thousands of vulnerable children throughout this area reaching into the slum areas where the children face unspeakable atrocities. We pray the bible contained in the backpack will be the conduit to finding hope, love and safety through the Heavenly Father's embrace.
